Great Oaks Landscaping is a design-build landscape contractor based in Park City, Illinois. Their focus is mostly on large-scale backyard landscape construction projects, but they also provide maintenance and snow removal services. They have a landscape designer in-house who is the primary salesperson.
The Goal: Streamline the Sales Process/Improve Lead Management
Great Oaks Landscaping has been a client of ours for more than five years. During the pandemic, they’ve received an overwhelming amount of leads and needed help streamlining their sales process to reduce chaos. When we started having more in-depth discussions, we realized they were keeping handwritten notes on leads.
The Challenges
Chicago’s North Shore is saturated with landscape contractors similar to Great Oaks Landscaping, many with established brands that have been around for several decades. Although Great Oaks has had no shortage of leads, it became clear that they needed to set themselves apart from the competition in order to build their business. The sales process has been the main focus in order to sign more projects.
We came up with a system that helped them manage their sales process inside of ActiveCampaign (their CRM). We built out a funnel with well-defined steps that included reminders of when to call each lead and the landscape designer can either move them to the next step or remove them from the funnel if they are a bad fit. All of the landscape designer’s tasks for the sales process appear for the day, making it much easier to manage than combing through handwritten notes.
The Results
In the 4 months since implementing the partially automated sales process for Great Oaks, they’ve signed projects totaling $1.2M.
Their total revenue in 2020 was $2M.
